You may remember…
…at this time last year, we did a “Featured People” article on the Wilson family. In that article, titled “Gifts of God”, Burt & Sallie Wilson share their experiences in becoming the adoptive parents of their son (Nathan) and daughter (Summer). [To review their story, see the “People @ Crossroads” archives located in the right rail]. In closing, Burt mentions their desire to continue expanding their family via adoption, “Sallie and I are currently waiting for a third “gift” (or maybe third and fourth if I get my desire for twins…)…” Well lo and behold, last month Burt and Sallie became the proud parents of twins! The following is the POST SCRIPT to their original story…

Our original article, “Gifts from God” can now be updated by adding the word “more” to the beginning. At the end of that story I mentioned Sallie’s and my desire to continue making additions to our family. At that time, Sallie wanted an addition (singular), but I wanted additions (twins)! Well guess what…I (we) got what I (we) wanted! On Monday, February 25, little Zachary and Aubree were born.
After writing last year’s article, Sallie and I continued attempting to add to our family by adoption. But this time, the waiting period seemed to go on-and-on-and-on. When we adopted Nathan and Summer, we experienced very little waiting time before being selected by a birth mom. So when we hit the one-year waiting mark, we began to wonder what God had in mind. I also need to mention that during this waiting period, my business began to struggle. The combined impact of these situations forced me to begin praying more diligently, asking God for wisdom in how to respond to our circumstances as they unfolded. I’m ashamed to admit that it took difficulty and discomfort to get me to reach out more regularly to our heavenly Father. But He’s faithful just the same – as you’re about to hear.
This past December, a couple from Crossroads (Doug & Kassy Clifford) contacted Sallie about a woman carrying twins who was looking for an adoptive family. After hearing all the particulars and praying for God’s will, we expressed interest in adopting these babies. A couple more weeks passed before we got the news that the birth-mother had selected us! And the rest is history!!
As mentioned, Zachary and Aubree arrived on February 25th. We were at the hospital when they were born and we had the pleasure of bringing them home that same week. They are healthy and beautiful and we are so grateful to the Lord for giving us the desire of our hearts. And while my business situation has not improved, the miracle of Zachary and Aubree reminds me to rest in the joy, hope, and assurance that our loving heavenly Father knows all things, controls all things and only wants what is best for us.
