“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
Psalm 119:105 (ESV)
The PathFinders Series are courses on various topics designed to provide Biblical direction for daily living. Meetings begin on Sunday, February 10, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm and continue through Sunday, May 4. Childcare will be provided. Our initial series will offer three different course options: Managing Finances God’s Way (8 weeks), The Truth Project (12 weeks), and two Marriage Matters classes (6 weeks each). Descriptions of each class are provided below.
Did you know there are over 2,350 verses in the Bible about money? Did you know that nearly half of Jesus’ parables are about possessions? The Bible is packed with wise counsel about your financial life. In fact, Jesus had more to say about money than about heaven and hell combined. “Managing Our Finance’s God’s Way” is an eight-week, video-based, small group study, providing the opportunity for studying biblical financial management in a small group setting.
The series is led through video messages by some of today’s most dynamic Christian leaders and experts on financial stewardship: Howard Dayton, Ron Blue, Chip Ingram, Rick Warren and Chuck Bentley. Small group discussions follow each video lesson. During the week, you will follow clear assignments designed to help you formulate a financial plan according to God’s principles.
This program was presented at Calvary Chapel Grass Valley in the fall of 2007, and the results were incredible!
The cost of the program is just $13 per person / $26 per couple. That includes a detailed workbook with all the forms you need as well as resource CD to help with your financial planning.
The Truth Project is a DVD-based small group study designed to equip believers with a comprehensive biblical worldview. Practically and personally, participants will be reintroduced to the truth claims of God. Twelve one-hour lessons discuss in detail God’s design for living out the Christian worldview in daily life. Most importantly, it addressed the need to marry our actions to our beliefs.
The twelve lessons included in the series are…
• Veritology: What is Truth?
• Philosophy & Ethics: Says Who?
• Anthropology: Who is Man?
• Theology: Who is God?
• Science: What is True?
• History: Whose Story?
• Sociology: The Divine Imprint
• Unio Mystico: Am I Alone?
• The State: Whose Law?
• The American Experiment: Stepping Stones.
• Labor: Created to Create.
• Community & Involvement: God Cares, Do I?
This purpose of this series is not simply to provide information. The Truth Project is intended as a tool for transformation – where serious truth-seekers come together to discuss and wrestle with the concepts presented, leading to personal and corporate transformation! Therefore, in addition to the weekly DVD presentation, each participant will be assigned to a small discussion group which will meet immediately after viewing each week’s DVD presentation. Participation in this small group is as essential part of the program and therefore will be required. The following is a typical meeting schedule:
5:00 PM Weekly Introduction
5:05 PM DVD Presentation
6:00 PM Dismiss to Small Groups
6:45 PM DVD Conclusion
Note: Childcare will be provided from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM
