Support Ministries @ CCGV

On SUNDAY, AUGUST 19, our three-service Sunday morning schedule will begin [8:00am/9:30am/11:15am]. This presents new opportunities for people to get involved in ministries that support the services in the main sanctuary. The following is a list of these support ministries as well as helpful information about what’s involved with getting involved!

USHERS & PARKING LOT MINISTRIES

MINISTRY SUMMARY:

Volunteers serving in these ministries serve two primary purposes:

  • To provide DIRECTION – Volunteers manage traffic-flow in the parking lot and seating in the main sanctuary.
  • To provide ASSISTANCE – Volunteers offer support by answering questions, supplying information, and providing any other support services that people might need.

CHILDREN’S MINISTRIES

MINISTRY SUMMARY:

Showing children God’s love, modeling love for Christ, and instructing children on a level that most effectively communicates the Bible to their minds and hearts is our objective in the Children’s Ministry.

VOLUNTEER REQUIREMENTS:

To insure the safety of our children, volunteers serving in the Children’s Ministry must meet the following requirements:

1. Attend Calvary Chapel Grass Valley for at least six months.
2. Complete and return a Children’s Ministry Application Form.
3. Complete fingerprint and background check.
4. Provide at least two personal character references.

Once the application process is complete, volunteers attend an orientation/training meeting and are then given their ministry assignment.

OPPORTUNITIES TO SERVE:

Nursery/ Toddlers:

Responsibilities involve providing care for infants and toddlers on Sunday mornings or Wednesday evenings. Volunteers commit to a monthly or quarterly rotation.

Preschoolers (2, 3, and 4 year old classes) :

Being a classroom teacher or teacher’s assistant at this age level involves teaching a lesson provided within the Bible curriculum and doing a craft, a puppet show and/or singing songs.

Kindergarten – 3 rd Graders:

Those who teach or assist in the kindergarten through third grade classrooms begin the morning by taking their children to the fellowship hall for worship and a “Nuts for Jesus” skit. Afterwards they return to the classroom and teach a Bible lesson and memory verse (provided in the curriculum), do a classroom craft, and play games.

“TEAM 456” (fourth through sixth graders) :

Responsibilities include teaching the Sunday morning lesson and memory verse, playing games, and facilitating small group activities. Volunteers are also asked to help periodically with monthly events.

“Nuts for Jesus” Team:

Volunteers become “Nuts” (in costume at least) and assist in presenting the weekly Nuts for Jesus skits. Don’t worry about memorizing lines – all Nuts voices are pre-recorded!

Worship Team:

We’re looking for singers and guitar players for the preschoolers and “Team 456” children.

Calvary Kids Club (C.K.C.):

Volunteers serve on Wednesday evenings as “coaches” for kids in K – 5 th grades. Responsibilities include leading games, teaching Bible lessons, and facilitating a small group.

STUDENT MINISTRIES

MINISTRY SUMMARY:

adolescence : a transitional period of development between youth and maturity

The adolescence period of Jesus is summed up in Scripture as follows:

“And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.”

(Luke 2:52 ESV)

The goal of Student Ministries is to help Junior High and High School students do just that! Our desire is to partner with parents in teaching students about Jesus, helping students develop a personal relationship with Him, and preparing them to be mature members and future leaders within His Church.

MINISTRY DESCRIPTION:

Being a part of the Leadership Team in Student Ministries means you are serious about being a living example of the gospel for young people.

A key word that summarizes our team ministry approach is RELATIONSHIP! Whether it means leading a small group, a lunchtime conversation over pizza or giving a student a ride home – the name of the game in student ministries is relationships. We believe it is through the development of genuine relationships with students and demonstrating a genuine relationship with Jesus that ministry with students happens.

Regardless of one’s age (young adult to retired) leaders are a valuable asset to Student Ministries. We hope you will seriously consider the possibility of getting involved!

HOSPITALITY MINISTRY

MINISTRY SUMMARY:

Following Christ’s example by welcoming all, serving selflessly, and loving fully is what people who serve in the hospitality ministry are all about! Our ministry goal is to greet, inform, and assist people in getting connected with people and resources here at CCGV.

MINISTRY DESCRIPTION:

Before and after every Sunday morning service, the hospitality team is ready and waiting in both the church and children’s ministry foyers to GREET, INFORM, & ASSIST those entering the facility.

GREET: Our desire is that every person who comes through our door will TANGIBLY EXPERIENCE God’s love! What better way to start than with a heartfelt greeting and a warm handshake!

INFORM: It can be very intimidating to walk into a new church (especially a large church) for the first time. Taking the time to answer questions and offer information about the church goes a long way toward alleviating “new situation anxiety”!

ASSIST: Another way to minimize a person’s or family’s “new situation anxiety” is to offer to escort them to their various destinations. This is a great way to reduce their fears and make their first visit much more enjoyable.

THE COMMONS: BOOKS & CAFE

MINISTRY SUMMARY:

Our desire is that The Commons: Books & Café will serve as a vital extension of the ministry at CCGV. Our selection of quality Christian books and resources supports the solid teaching ministry of the church and our café provides a great environment for Christian fellowship! These benefits are greatly enhanced by the presence of friendly and knowledgeable people who look to serve the needs of every person who walks into the store!

MINISTRY DESCRIPTION:

BOOKSTORE: Volunteers should be genuine book-lovers who have a passion for introducing others to good books! Responsibilities include helping people find books, assisting with purchases, and keeping the store neat and tidy.

CAFÉ: You’ll be one of the most popular people on the grounds if you can make a great Mocha Latte or Americano! Seriously, the pace can be frantic and requires a steady mind and heart – but it’s a lot of fun too! Training will be provided.
