Here we go. There’s plenty of interest (and interesting people), so it should be a good time and great learning.

The Book we will read is The Reason for God by Timothy Keller.

If you do not already own the book, you will need to purchase one this week. I recommend that you pick one up at The Commons (Our Church Bookstore), or online at Amazon. Amazon is pretty tough to beat on price, but we will offer the book discounted at The Commons for all interested . Either way, grab one soon.

I will post for discussion next Sunday night, May 19th, and our first week’s discussion will revolve around the introduction and Chapter One. You will have all week before the next post so don’t panic if you get behind or don’t have the book until later this week.

In the meantime feel free to ask any questions here and I’ll do my best to answer them.

I’m really looking forward to the months ahead enjoying a good book & good discussion with a lot of good people.

By the way, this group is never closed and anyone can feel free to join us at anytime.

Book Club

I was thinking it might be kind of fun to get a book club together.

One where I wouldn’t have to go to any meetings (Life is busy enough as it is).
One where I (Not Oprah) get to pick the book.
One where anyone with an internet connection could join with me (and I with them) so that we could exchange ideas about what we are reading and get the most benefit possible from it.

So I was thinking of doing that right here with any that would like to join me.

Here’s what I’m thinking:

I’ll pick a Book (I’m leaning toward The Reason for God by Timothy Keller) but I’m open to others
We’ll Read a chapter a week
I’ll write a post on the chapter (say, on Monday)
We can discuss the chapter together in the comment section of the post each week

The benefits:

This will provide an opportunity and accountability for reading good books
This will allow us to think through what we are reading and articulate what we think
This will allow us to learn from others and the insights they bring to the table
Others can visit the blog, read the post and comments, and learn from a book they’ve never themselves read

So, any takers?
