Q: What is a Helps Ministry?
A: The Bible tells us that “helps” is one of the gifts God gives people to serve the practical needs of others in the church. In 1 Cor. 12:27-28 (NKJV) we read:
“Now you are the body of Christ, and members individually. And God has appointed these in the church, first apostles, second prophets, third teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, administrations…”
Q: How does the Helps Ministry work?
A: People who have legitimate needs place a call to the Crossroads Church office. In many cases, we ask callers to come to the office in person and meet with a member of our pastoral team to discuss their situation. If it is determined that assistance can be provided, implementation of the plan is typically delegated to Helps Ministry Volunteers. These volunteers will then contact the person or people in need and make arrangements for the assistance to be provided.
Q: Who are these volunteers?
A: They are people just like you who want to share Gods love through serving others. They are members of Gods family at Crossroads Church.
Q: Where do you provide Helps Ministry services?
A: Our volunteers support a wide geographic area including Auburn, Grass Valley, Nevada City and surrounding communities.
Q: How often do volunteers provide support?
A: Needs seem to come in seasons. There are times when all is quiet and there are times when calls are abundant. Fortunately, we have a number of volunteers who are available to serve in any particular area. This allows us to spread the work around between them.
Q: How can I get involved?
A: If you are interested in serving in the Helps Ministry, we ask that you pray before taking action. Ask God to reveal His will in this area. If you continue to sense His call to serve in this area of ministry, contact Jane Sherman @ sherman_family@earthlink.net. We’d love to have you on board.
